I own inexpensive knives, is it worth it to have KW Sharp sharpen them?

Yes, even inexpensive knives are worth sharpening. For only $10 any knife sharpened by KW Sharp will be as good or better than new. Not only would it be difficult to replace most knives for less than $10 we believe it is better for sustainability and the planet to extend the life of tools and utensils whenever possible.

How often do I need to sharpen my knives?

Whenever you feel your knives are not cutting as well as you would want them to. Japanese chefs sharpen their knives daily. We generally recommend a sharpen once every 1 to 3 months for home cooks but it’s entirely dependent on usage, maintenance, storage, and the hardness of the steel.

Do you sharpen ceramic blades?

Not at this time. Due to supply chain availability some of our ceramic sharpening equipment arrival is delayed. Coming soon though!

Can I request a custom edge on a blade?

Yes, we can customize the cutting edge to your specifications. Depending on the request, there may be an additional charge.

What's the difference between honing and sharpening?

Sharpening removes material from the blade to produce a new, sharp edge, while honing keeps the blade sharp by pushing the edge of the knife back to the center. Knife sets often come with a honing rod which should be used regularly.
